To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—that is to have succeeded.

“May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is there for each and every one of us.”

-Mother Teresa

  • “My career in mental health counseling and experiences in civil society have impassioned me to pursue Passageway's mission with Integrity, Commitment, Compassion, and Enthusiasm to facilitate healing, connect people, families and communities and create a mentally healthier supportive society.

My compassion and empathy for our first responders, our military & veterans & our healthcare & mental health providers, has grown exponentially over the last 30 years as I have witnessed the toll of the work on those who serve and sacrifice for us in our greatest times of need. The first responder/healthcare culture historically demanded a denial of the traumatic stress encountered almost daily from hire to retire. The paradigm shift acknowledging the need to support the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our healthcare providers, first responders and their families is only most recently and finally in the forefront, especially as this decade began. As a good camper with my desire to leave things better than I found them, I am dedicated to supporting the resiliency and knowledge of our first responders through supporting and instruction in effective psychological treatment of traumatic stress, effective peer support programs, and facilitating healing from traumatic stress, moral injury and compassion fatigue.

As a compassionate and empathic person, maintaining my own resiliency can be challenging at times. Teaching resiliency, experiencing awe, mindfulness, meditation, connecting to nature, balance and assist in providing the foundation needed to sustain ourselves to do the work of responding to others needs daily.

I value and am grateful for deep connections with family, friends, and my community.  I value compassion, authenticity, and integrity and surround myself with others who are like-minded. I value spirituality, finding meaning and awe and seeking to connect to all that is greater than me. I love playing tennis, downhill skiing, gardening, watching my grandchildren play sports or do anything really, playing nerdy games with family/friends, camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming, flying a plane, traveling and participating in different cultures, music, singing, and am a passionate life-long learner.”
